Palm Branches:
When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, people used palm branches to welcome Him while calling Him “Saviour” and shouting out “Hosanna!”. Hosanna is an expression of praise and adoration. Palm branches are also seen as a symbol of victory in the Bible (Revelation 7:9).
However, as sweet as this gesture was towards Jesus, less than a week later the same people who welcomed Him into Jerusalem turned on Him and were chanting out at the top of their lungs to put innocent Jesus to death.
Hot cross buns:
Hot cross buns are not mentioned in the bible and holds no spiritual significance. However, hot cross buns are seen as a symbol (most popular in England). It is thought to symbolise the body of Christ, which was broken and put on the cross for our sins. The cross carved onto the bun signifies Jesus being crucified on the cross.
Easter bunny:
The Easter bunny holds no relevance to the meaning of Easter. The Easter bunny legend was created in the 1500s. It was created mainly to capture the attention of children for Easter.
Easter Eggs:
Similar to the Easter bunny, there is no mention of Easter eggs in the Bible. Many feel that eggs represent new life, symbolising an egg to Jesus who broke out of the tomb and resurrected into new life. However, as an item, it holds no significance to the story of Easter.
