The Resurrection:
On the third day, as Jesus said, He resurrected for the dead (Luke 18:33). God raised Jesus from the dead and seated Jesus at His right hand in heavenly places (Eph 1:20). Death could not hold Him and He beat death! Death no longer has dominion over Him (Rom 6:9). Jesus CHOSE to die for us (John 10:15). He could have escaped death any time He wanted, but with His love for us burning on His heart, He humbly suffered and died (Matthew 26:53).
Jesus’ resurrection is the evidence that there is nothing to be fearful of and there is nothing that can come against the power of the living God. No matter how much it tried, Death could not defeat Jesus.
Surveys after surveys have shown that most people are afraid of death, but Jesus proved that He holds victory over everything. With Jesus in our lives, there is no need to fear Death. Death will hold no power over us for we know that even though we’re absent in our bodies, we’ll be with present with God!
Jesus was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead (Rom 1:4). Because God created the Earth, He has authority over everything. Jesus’ triumph over death (His resurrection) proves this. Only the One who creates life can control death.
In John 11:25, Jesus says that He is the resurrection and the life. This means that only He can grant eternal life and that He is the essence of life itself. That is why Death could not hold Him down.
The resurrection of Christ is a massive pillar of faith and hope for Christians. It gives us the assurance that though we will physically die one day, those who believe in Christ will be resurrected into a glorious eternal life.
